Sydney 29 August 2018. CASHREWARDS, Australia’s largest Cashback website, today announces that it has generated over AU$1 billion in revenue for its growing list of retail partners since the company was founded in 2014.

According to CASHREWARDS CEO and founder Andrew Clarke, the milestone event demonstrates the company’s value proposition for brands and consumers in Australia – creating positive connections with brands whilst helping members with the increasing cost of living by offering real cash savings.

Clarke commented, “The $1 billion milestone is significant for CASHREWARDS for three key reasons. It demonstrates how over 1200+ Australian and Global retail partners are realising the value our new and previously untapped channel delivers; illustrates the hard work and dedication of our 60+ strong team, and, critically, gives back tangible CASHREWARDS to the bank accounts of Australian shoppers.”

The company has a simple and transparent business model. Retailers pay CASHREWARDS a commission to drive traffic to their website and CASHREWARDS passes on a percentage of this commission to its members. For retailers, CASHREWARDS offers a new pay per sale channel to the consumer, whilst the consumer is rewarded with cashback and savings; there is no fee to join.

Booking.com is one of the 1,200 + retailers (which includes Amazon, eBay, Apple, David Jones and Woolworths) realising the additional revenue and expanded consumer audience that CASHREWARDS provides. Yury Glikin, Area Manager – Strategic Partnerships,  said; “CASHREWARDS is a valued part of our omni-channel retail strategy, delivering incremental revenue, incremental customers and a positive, frictionless channel to market. The growing online retail sector in Australia is increasingly competitive so the incentivised consumer audience that CASHREWARDS delivers Booking.com complements our own sales and marketing activities.”

The company was founded and bootstrapped by established entrepreneurs Andrew and Lorica Clarke in 2014, who had seen the concept of cashback rewards programmes flourish in the US and UK. Since its 2014 launch, the company’s success has been recognised by over 18 national business awards, including winning the Deloitte Tech Fast 50 in 2016 with a 12,469 percent growth rate (the second highest growth rate in the history of the awards); AFR 2018 Most Innovative Companies, Westpac Business of Tomorrow 2017; a finalist in the 2017 Telstra Business Awards and named the fourth fasted growing company in Australia according to Smart50 2017.

In addition to giving back to the Australian consumer, the company is also a proud partner of Pledge 1%, a corporate philanthropy movement pioneered by Salesforce and Atlassian. CASHREWARDS gives one percent of all Cashback rewards, one percent of its equity and one percent of its time to The Starlight Children’s Foundation. Clarke says proudly “ Every time our members shop with CASHREWARDS  they not only save significantly on everything they buy they also help sick children and their families through our partnership with the Starlight Children’s Foundation. It’s win-win for the consumer, and the children and for CASHREWARDS where giving back is in our DNA.

This Sunday 26 August is National Dog Day and CASHREWARDS wants to use this opportunity to raise awareness and support dog welfare by donating as much as they can to The Vanderpump Dog Foundation, a dog rescue organization, founded in 2016 working on the international front to help create a better world for dogs globally.

For 3 days (26, 27 and 28 August) CASHREWARDS will be donating to the Vanderpump Dog Foundation 2% of all Commission they receive for sales through their site on popular partner pet supply shops Petbarn and Pet Circle.

The CASHREWARDS team hopes to spread awareness through a social campaign that will launch on Instagram on Sunday supported by some well-known Instagram dog-lover influencers, CASHREWARDS members, and their spokesperson Kathy Sheeran from Shopping Confessions.

“I am a great advocate of CASHREWARDS, I truly believe shopping through CASHREWARDS is the smartest way to shop, not only because of savings and the Cashback I receive; but because it is an organisation with ‘giving back’ at the heart of what they do. I am extremely happy CASHREWARDS is taking the initiative to support dog welfare, as a dog owner; knowing that I can help other dogs in need by just doing my usual shopping for our beloved Maui through CASHREWARDS is actually beyond satisfactory” said Sheeran.

Boston-based Bullhorn Inc.’s latest philanthropic efforts include joining global initiative Pledge 1% and partnering with national nonprofit Year Up.

As a member of Pledge 1%, the software company for staffing and recruitment firms is committing itself to donate one percent of its profit and other resources, such as employee time and products, to benefit the local community. At Bullhorn’s annual North American staffing and recruiting industry conference on Thursday, it will match all donations to Year Up and Career Collaborative, up to $50,000.

The company already has a 12-year-old philanthropic arm, Bullhorn Cares, which has raised $500,000 to date. Bullhorn employees also donate their time by providing free services to those in need. One current beneficiary of Bullhorn Cares is Career Collaborative, a local nonprofit that provides training, job-search assistance and job retention support for clients who start off unemployed or underemployed.

“There’s a real sense of engagement that people get out of that type of hands-on interaction with nonprofits, but especially with the people they serve,” Bullhorn founder and CEO Art Papas said in an interview with the Business Journal on Wednesday. “It creates a powerful allegiance and loyalty to the organization. (Employees) feel like the company is investing in you and also the community.”

Papas, who has served as board chairman of Career Collaborative since 2015, decided to partner with Year Up, a similar non-profit that also aims to close the opportunity gap. Year Up helps urban young adults land jobs by teaching them the skills needed by today’s companies.

“We felt like we also wanted to touch the youth because Career Collaborative is solely focused on adults or young adults. We wanted to go a little bit earlier,” Papas said. “There aren’t a lot of programs that bridge the gap between end of childhood and work.”

Papas said he hopes other companies will follow in Bullhorn’s footsteps and embrace these two organizations in their own philanthropic endeavors.

BOSTONJune 14, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — That’s the message from Boston Tech Entrepreneur Barry Hinckley, who today launches his innovative new growth mechanism in a play on words termed “IPO” or Initial Philanthropic Offering.

In the first of its kind, Hinckley’s IPO will see him pledge at least 10% of his company, to nonprofit organizations that partner with Yotme during its initial rollout and brands that support charities via their Corporate Social Responsibility programs.

The launch pad for Hinckley’s pioneering IPO mechanism is the Yotme social relationship management and experience marketing platform. For the uninitiated, Yotme is a new and truly social network that allows nonprofits and brands to engage customers and supporters while creating the world’s largest, most effective social impact platform.

Inspired by Pledge 1% and the work of The Boston Foundation, Hinckley conceived a way to donate to not just 1% of his personal Yotme shares, but 10% of the entire company to nonprofit organizations.

With Hinckley’s goal being to build a “billion dollar business” and the market opportunity there to do it, early adopting nonprofits that begin leveraging Yotme’s platform, will be eligible to share a potential equity stake of tens of millions of dollars.

Under the terms of the IPO, nonprofits that use the Yotme platform to sell tickets to their events, may be eligible to a 5% credit against the revenue they generate. These credits will be tracked internally by the Yotme team. On the occasion of a liquidity event, the Boston Foundation, as the custodian of the Yotme Charitable Fund, will be responsible for distributing grants to eligible charities based on the resulting available funds.

“The Boston Foundation has a long history of working with business and other organizations to strengthen and expand their philanthropy,” said Paul Grogan, President and CEO of the Boston Foundation. “This IPO concept is a unique way for Yotme to demonstrate its commitment to the nonprofit sector and potentially drive millions of dollars in charitable donations in years to come.”

And the great news for 501(c)3 charities, who Hinckley has noted are often budget constrained and “under-teched”, is that Yotme is giving access to its platform for free. With Yotme, organizations can do everything from invites, ticketing, event and consumer relationship management, event marketing and real-time messaging.

Yotme enters a social networking market, which thanks to the dominance of Facebook and the big 4 social networks, have seen many tech entrepreneurs head for the hills. But not Hinckley and his team:

“In a sadly divided world, I want to create a social network that brings people together and rewards them for positive social activity,” said Hinckley. “By sharing our technology and growth with nonprofits and brands, we believe we can nurture an ever increasing society of people and businesses who strive to combine commercial viability with social responsibility.”

By inWhatLanguage. Originally published on the inWhatLanguage blog.

inWhatLanguage prides itself on being a mission-driven translation and localization company. As a company, we recently made the pledge to donate 1% of our revenue to our social impact initiatives. Our donation is made primarily in the form of translation services and goes towards our four social impact pillars.

inWhatLanguage’s first impact pillar is working to assist English Language Learners (ELLs). inWhatLanguage does this through donating translations to schools and organizations across the United States assisting ELLs. We recently provided 13 grants (in the form of translation services) to schools across the US for this cause.

Our second social impact pillar is providing translations to organizations like the World Health Organization, which respond to crises and disasters around the world. In these situations, translation is critical to aid the coordination and communication between different responders on how to provide the most effective relief strategy.

Our third social impact pillar is supporting and empowering our linguist network to do good in their own communities. We recently opened up a micro-grant program for our linguists to carry out community improvement projects.

Our fourth social impact pillar is fostering international trade and diplomacy. We do this through providing translations to World Trade Centers and other organizations fostering international trade and diplomacy.

With all of this in mind, we realized one of the best ways to solidify our social impact mission was by becoming a Pledge 1% member.

“I knew when I founded inWhatLanguage I wanted to use the business as a vehicle for good. Pledge 1% helped us to solidify our commitment of donating 1% of our revenue and translation services to critical causes, and also allowed us to join a like-minded community of businesses committed to doing good in the world,” said Cody Broderick, CEO and Founder of inWhatLanguage.

Pledge 1% is the leading organization facilitating a corporate philanthropy pledge model in the world. Pledge 1% is a global movement to create a new normal in which giving back is integrated into the DNA of companies of all sizes. Pledge 1% encourages and challenges individual companies to Pledge 1% of equity, profit, product, and/or employee time for their communities.

“The Pledge 1% movement along with our members are setting a new standard for successful companies of the future,” said Pledge 1% Chief Executive Amy Lesnick. “Increasingly giving back isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s also the smart thing to do, especially when it comes to attracting and retaining top talent.  Pledge 1% empowers founders to integrate giving back and doing the right thing into the core culture and values of their companies and to leverage all of their assets (equity, product, technology, talent, voice, partner ecosystem) to be a force for good.”

Pledge 1% launched in December 2014 and is spearheaded by Salesforce, Atlassian, Rally and Tides. Already, over 5,000 companies in 100+ countries have taken the pledge. Pledge companies and individuals are in total control of their pledge being able to decide to support whatever causes and nonprofits they feel align with their interests. Pledge 1% is flexible and simply encourages companies to pledge any combination of product, equity, profit or time.

As companies grow and scale their programs they can add additional pledge types. There is, however, no requirement that companies commit to all of the categories and or commit a full 1%. The purpose of the movement is to acknowledge an organization’s commitment to giving back to the community, encourage organizations to increase their effort, and inspire others.

Companies, however, don’t have to go it alone. One of the main purposes of Pledge 1% is to empower and support companies in their journey. Pledge 1% provides free consultation with a Pledge 1% success manager to discuss your philanthropic goals and next steps. Additionally, members gain access to turnkey resources, opportunities for visibility, fun perks, and an esteemed community of like-minded leaders.

As Lesnick explains, “One of the most exciting aspects of Pledge 1% is its vibrant and dynamic member community. Members are co-creating and sharing new best practices, tools, and resources every day. They are “making it their own” while at the same time sharing peer to peer learnings and paving the way for other founders to progress from pledge to action.  We are constantly inspired by the generosity and creativity of our members.  It’s this type of leadership and innovation that is propelling Pledge 1%’s growth and helping us to collectively take the movement to a whole new level.”

As a mission-driven company, we knew we needed to commit to that mission. By taking the pledge we were able to not only pledge 1% of our revenue and product, but we were able to join a community of like-minded businesses working to make the world a better place. In addition, we now have access to resources we otherwise wouldn’t have to continue to strengthen and grow our social impact initiatives.

“I encourage other companies who want to make a positive impact in their communities and the world but don’t know where to start, to take the 1% pledge. Pledge 1% provides valuable resources and expertise to get you on the path to doing good. I can personally attest to the important role Pledge 1% has played in the development of our impact program,” said Broderick.
