This story was submitted by Coupa.
At Coupa we’re dedicated to unlocking purpose for the communities where we work and live. We believe in the exponential impact of working with our customers, partners and local communities to innovate and drive results on key societal issues. One of the causes we are dedicated to is environmental justice, and we were delighted when Salesforce Naomi Morenzoni Rebecca Ferguson agreed to jump into our Equal Air Project focused on the disproportionate effects of air pollution on marginalized communities. Salesforce and Coupa recognize that communities are an important element of a comprehensive climate strategy, that we must engage those most affected in meaningful solutions.
Together, we contributed expertise through Coupa’s Purpose in Action program, which partnered with nonprofits, Acterra: Action for a Healthy Planet, Sustainable Silicon Valley, and Rise South City to improve their impact on local communities. We applaud nonprofits and their dedication to community-driven solutions and we recognize that we have an important role to play in supporting their success through strategic volunteerism, with key implementation partners such as Pyxera Global.
As a result of our blended Coupa and Salesforce teams, we dedicated nearly 1,000 hours, provided recommendations for scaling programs, expanded donor engagement and organizational strategy, created networks among the nonprofits, and are providing ongoing support through employee volunteerism.
We know that collaboration drives innovation, particularly when we engage diverse knowledge sets and experiences, which is why Coupa and Salesforce not only contributed expertise, but also learned together, with and from, our nonprofit partners which makes all of us stronger. Our employees benefited from stepping out of their comfort zones and day-to-day responsibilities to challenge themselves to apply their knowledge and lived experiences for the benefit of communities. This provided an opportunity for everyone to learn, grow and lead. We look forward to expanding this impact through the Pledge 1% network and beyond in 2024.

Acterra is a beacon of hope and innovation in fostering sustainable change. Dedicated to driving local solutions for a healthier planet, their focus ranges from promoting sustainable food systems and energy efficiency to advocating renewable energy and sustainable business practices. Our joint mission focused on amplifying Acterra’s outreach, arming them with insights that will motivate more individuals to embrace sustainable living. Sustainable Silicon Valley collaborates with an impressive array of stakeholders, from tech giants to local communities, to confront the Bay Area’s most pressing sustainability challenges. By doing so, we aim to empower a new generation to understand, measure, and counteract air pollution in their localities.
Lastly, our collaboration with Rise South City holds a special promise. Dedicated to facilitating critical dialogues about climate change and social equity, Rise South City stands at an exciting growth juncture. Our teams worked closely with them to craft a robust strategic plan, helping them solidify their organizational structure, governance, and standards of excellence.

This story was submitted by TigerEye
In March 2023, TigerEye’s co-founder and CEO, Tracy Young, embraced the Pledge 1% initiative. Following this commitment, the company has contributed approximately 164 hours of volunteer service to a range of nonprofits across the U.S., including SF-Marin Food Bank, City of Dreams, various schools, and local organizations. From March to November, TigerEye’s remote workforce of 25 averaged 18 hours of volunteer work per month, with activities spread out over states like California, Oregon, Massachusetts, and New Jersey.
As the post-pandemic landscape shifts, many executives are reverting to traditional office-centric models. However, Young stands by the efficacy of remote work. Embracing remote work has proven advantageous for TigerEye, not just for operational flexibility but also in fostering a culture of community involvement. The remote model offers employees the autonomy to balance their personal and professional lives, creating space for them to engage in volunteer activities that resonate with their values.
This empowerment aligns with Tracy Young’s vision of a harmonious work-life integration, which is evident from her successful leadership at TigerEye. By distributing the workforce across the globe, TigerEye taps into diverse communities, allowing its employees to contribute locally and personalize their community service. This approach may set a precedent for others to follow, blending professional success with social responsibility.

By Jamie Bradley, Senior Director of Content Marketing at VidMob
We all have a responsibility to give back and giving back takes many forms. Whether it’s monetary donations, donating your time or contributing resources to a cause. But, how do we give in a way that drives long-lasting systemic change across the non-profit sector? That is the question VidMob is focused on solving.
In 2022, VidMob took the 1% Pledge and committed VidMob Gives, their non-profit arm, to using AI-powered technology to change the way NPOs advertise in order to stretch their media budgets and increase impact across their causes. Since VidMob Gives was formed in 2018, they have worked with over 200 NPOs, developing hundreds of ads for global non-profits to help them fulfill their missions.

Many NPOs struggle when it comes to advertising. While paid campaigns are a great way to increase awareness and drive donations, with limited resources, it’s hard to develop enough creative to fuel their campaigns. On top of that, when they’re relying on donations to keep their company in business, they want every dollar to go towards the cause, not wasted on a poor-performing ad that doesn’t drive performance. That’s where VidMob comes in.
VidMob’s work centers around empowering NPOs with the creative data they need to understand which creative elements are driving performance and then develop new creative that implements those insights. No wasted dollars and a lot more impact. One such campaign working with Techo, a youth-led non-profit org that works to create a just society without poverty, Ana Testa, Techo’s Director of Marketing and Communications said “The campaign gave us good insights and ideas on how we should approach our upcoming campaigns.” VidMob campaigns have helped support a wide array of causes, with a campaign that helped 67 people living with HIV get the support they needed and another that helped generate 689 welcome gift sign-ups and cards for military families. Jessica Teachey, Senior Director of Community Engagement at The MusicianShip says, “Because of this partnership, we’re a sharper marketing team that’s learning how to drive content based on real, measurable KPIs and demographic goals.”

VidMob Gives is committed to setting up a foundation that others can then build upon to drive lasting change in an organization. Whether it’s helping a global NPOs build a campaign strategy, or helping a local charity build homes for 3 families in need, at VidMob, we believe in building the future we want to see. A future where companies understand their responsibility to act and be a driver of good across local and global communities. A future where giving compounds on itself to drive incredible, lasting impact for charities and the causes they are committed to serving.
